Beta Test Terms
Last updated 18 October 2026
These terms apply when you join the SUNSTEEL beta list or take part in a SUNSTEEL beta test. They are an agreement between you and Faermire Studios (“we”, “us”). By joining the beta list, or by accepting an invite or playing a beta build, you agree to them. If you don’t agree, please don’t join.
1. Who can join
You must be at least 16 years old. If you are under the age of majority where you live, a parent or guardian must agree to these terms for you. You may only have one beta account, and you must give us accurate details.
2. Joining the list is not an invite
Joining the beta list means we may invite you to a beta test. It doesn’t guarantee a place. We choose testers at our own discretion, for example to test particular platforms, regions or server loads, and we don’t have to explain who we pick. Invites, keys and beta accounts are personal to you. You may not sell, trade or give them away unless we say you can.
3. A beta is unfinished
A beta build is test software. Expect bugs, crashes, lost progress, server downtime, balance changes and missing features. We can change, pause, reset or end any beta test, or any part of it, at any time and without notice.
4. Progress will be wiped
Characters, items, currency, bases, clans and all other progress in a beta test may be deleted at any time and will not carry over to the released game unless we expressly say otherwise. In-game items and currency have no real-world value, can’t be exchanged for money, and are not your property. Beta access is free, so there is nothing to refund.
5. Sharing and confidentiality
Unless your invite says a test is confidential, you’re welcome to stream, record and talk about what you play, as long as you make clear it’s a beta build. If an invite says a test is confidential, you must not share screenshots, video, or details about the game or the test until we lift that restriction, and you must keep any build, key or login to yourself.
6. Feedback
We welcome bug reports, ideas and other feedback. If you send us any, you give us a free, perpetual, worldwide, irrevocable licence to use, change and build on it in SUNSTEEL or anything else, without owing you payment or credit. Please don’t send us anything you don’t have the right to share.
7. How you must play
While taking part, you must not:
- cheat, or use bots, macros, hacks or any unauthorised third-party software;
- deliberately exploit bugs instead of reporting them;
- copy, modify, decompile, reverse engineer or data-mine the game, its servers or its network traffic, except where the law gives you a right to that cannot be removed;
- disrupt, overload or attack our servers or other players’ connections;
- harass, threaten, or abuse other players, or post hateful, sexual or illegal content;
- buy or sell accounts, items, currency or services for real money;
- share your account, or use another person’s; or
- impersonate us or our staff.
If we believe you have broken these terms, we may warn you, reset your progress, or suspend or remove your access, with or without notice.
8. Our game, your licence
SUNSTEEL, its software, art, music, names and logos belong to Faermire Studios and its licensors. We give you a personal, limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable and revocable licence to install and play beta builds for personal, non-commercial testing, as these terms allow. That licence ends when the beta ends or your access is removed, and you must then delete any beta build we ask you to. We keep every right we don’t expressly give you.
9. Your data
Our privacy policy explains what we collect during a beta and how we use it.
10. No warranty
To the fullest extent the law allows, beta builds and beta tests are provided “as is” and “as available”, without any warranty, whether express or implied, including warranties of quality, fitness for a particular purpose, uninterrupted access or freedom from errors.
11. Limits on our liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive loss, or for lost data, progress, profits or goodwill, arising from the beta list or any beta test. Our total liability to you for anything connected with them is limited to 50 US dollars.
Nothing in these terms limits liability that the law does not allow us to limit, such as for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud. If you are a consumer, you keep all the rights your local consumer law gives you that cannot be waived.
12. Ending
You can leave at any time by unsubscribing from our emails, deleting the beta build or asking us to close your account. We can end your participation, or any beta test, at any time. Sections 4, 6, 8, 10, 11 and 14 continue to apply after it ends.
13. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as the beta develops, and we’ll change the date at the top when we do. If a change is significant, we’ll tell you by email or in the game before it takes effect. Continuing to take part after that means you accept the new terms.
14. Law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of New Mexico, United States, and its courts have jurisdiction over any dispute about them. If you are a consumer living elsewhere, you keep the protection of the mandatory laws of your home country and may also bring a claim in its courts. If any part of these terms can’t be enforced, the rest still applies. These terms and the privacy policy are the whole agreement between us about the beta.
